palm prints | for the love of design
maybe this is me in need of a vacation, but when i came across this sydney home tour, i immediately wanted to run out and buy all things printed with palms. this is shocking, even to me, as i’m mostly never drawn to bold pattern in interiors.

i HAVE been known to rock a graphic pant every now and again, so i’m considering going for these seriously cute joie shorts. instant west coast vacay every time you wear ‘em. i like the sound of that.

simple studs: styled | for the love of design
my friends and i love a good themed party. i turned 25 yesterday and my sweet friends threw me a 90′s themed birthday bash over the weekend. it was an ode to our childhood, to saved by the bell, boy bands, scrunchies and dr. martens.

my jewelry collection has grown into a bit of a nightmare over the years. i actually combed through it in hopes of finding one of those tattoo-like chokers, you know the ones. thankfully, i had nothing that dated that far back, but i did find a whole lot of interesting and bold pieces from my teenage years. i went through a bohemian stage in my late teens. lots of wooden beaded necklaces and over-sized earrings.

my jewelry style has evolved into something a bit more classic recently. i’ll be honest, i sometimes forget to put jewelry on at all and when you have a closet full of neutral clothes, things can start looking way boring. so i stick with simple, no hassle jewelry. the kind that i can throw on in 30 seconds and get out the door looking put together, but not too put together, you feel me?

studs are so versatile. they pack well (you should see how many are currently hiding in my purse), they’re generally less expensive than their larger, dangling relatives and they are the perfect accessory for spring.

toast 2013 | for the love of designit’s march first! and it’s snowing!

kansas weather never ceases to amaze. i’m choosing to look past the flakes falling outside my window to celebrate the fact that it is now one of my most favorite months of the year. march is hopeful. after months of dark + cold everything, march says put on some pastel skinnies and eat some sugar-covered marshmallow bunnies, why don’t you, it’s spring!

it also encompasses three of my very favorite holidays – easter, daylight savings and my birthday (it counts). daylight saving time is always to be celebrated as a holiday. let there be light!

i’ve posted about my love for toast lookbooks before, and i probably will again because they are perfect. the march looks have me wanting to jetset to a coast with nothing but a cotton dress and some sunnies.

toast christmas 2012 | for the love of design

i’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that christmas is only 20 days away. don’t ya feel like the older you get, the faster time goes by?

i try my best to savor this time of year because it’s my faaaavorite. the end of the season can really sneak up after a month of shuffling parties, shopping, wrapping up work projects, shopping some more, traveling, etcetera etcetera. let’s slow it down a bit. let’s watch the holiday and sit by the fire in candy cane socks and drink spiked cocoa with mr. buble EVERY DAY.

let’s also look at amazing christmas lookbooks and hope that santa brings us everything inside them. how beautiful is toast’s holiday lookbook? i’m hoping for these pj’s in my stocking this year.

style | for the love of design

this time of year really brings out the homebody in me, even more so than usual. in my opinion, there is nothing better than staying in on cold nights with a cup of coffee, a good book, and a lit christmas tree. or wine, good friends, and a lit christmas tree. maybe throw in some festive tunes as well, why not.

i’m kind of a big ole wimp about the cold. i wish that weren’t the case, but it sure does make coming home from work and putting on my favorite sweatpants feel like the best thing ever. cozy lounge clothes are my weakness. as are christmas trees.

i hope you all had a really great thanksgiving. i’m feeling refreshed after my vacation and motivated to start the last month of 2012 off right. happy monday to you!

gold: a collection | for the love of design

it’s been a few weeks since my last collection post, so i thought i’d bring it on back with one of my favorite things in the whole wide world. and that, ladies and gents, would be anything and everything in the shade of gold. i’ve decorated my apartment with mixed metals and as we enter the holiday season i am keeping that in mind when purchasing christmas decor. this collection is the perfect mix of holiday party attire, accessories for the hostess’s home and gifts for a good friend. gold looks extra festive during the holiday season, but what i love so much about it is that it can transition into every day life after the holidays are over. how ’bout that!

oversized coats | for the love of design

i drove to work one-handed today, switching off so i could keep the other under my leg for the warmth. i’ve been in denial about the fast approaching winter weather, but i think it is finally time i suck it up and put on a pair of gloves and a coat when leaving my apartment.

this post made me realize i am in serious need of a cute coat, but i’m in a bit of a predicament. tailored or oversized, that is the question, my friends. i’ve been in awe of this one by emerson fry for a long while and this one over at j.crew as well.

this editorial for elle canada convinced me that the oversized silhouette is pretty rad and i suspect we will be seeing much more of it in the upcoming months. do ya love it or hate it? i’m curious to know what trends you will be embracing this winter!
