madewell frankie pump | for the love of design

i’ve never been one for anything “blingy”. i can only remember one instance when i’ve ever had something really over the top in my closet. my mom bought me a pair of bad ass 5 inch betsey johnson heels complete with silver glitter and metal stiletto for a high school dance. they were so not me it was almost hysterical. but they made me feel like barbie and i can assure you they were the only pair of comfortable heels i’ve ever owned. man, i loved those shoes.

i used college date parties and formals as an excuse to rewear them a few times. my mom pulled those gems out of her storage closet a few weeks ago to sell them in a garage sale and i just could not get myself to part with them. she agreed to hold on to them so that one day my kids would have a fabulous pair of dress up shoes to run around in and that made me happy.

you can imagine my excitement when i saw madewell’s frankie pumps. glittery goodness for the grown working woman, get out of town! they would complete the most perfect new year’s eve outfit, no?

am i the only one with sentimental attachments to old items never worn anymore? i would love to hear stories/see pictures of some of your all time favorite items in your closet!

bhldn lookbook | for the love of design

i don’t usually post on the weekends, but this week has been busy (in the best way) and i didn’t have the time yesterday. my best friend’s wedding invitation suite i’ve designed headed off to the printer this week and i can’t wait to get them back and show them to you. i have a few other projects to wrap up this morning and an inbox full of emails to get under control and then i’m off to do a bit of shopping.

bhldn just revealed their holiday collection and i am dying over their stunning lookbook. seriously, do yourself a favor and flip through it a few thousand times and then pray that sometime in the near future you have an occasion to wear this. that’s what i’ve been doing anyway. ALSO – bhldn has created a holiday inspired pinterest contest that is going on right now so pin away, my friends!

happy weekend!

scout & catalogue f/w lookbook 2012 | for the love of designmonday morning came a little too fast for this girl. a coffee and some good ole eye candy always makes mornings a bit more manageable. i know you agree. scout and catalogue always has the best lookbooks. the fabrics + colors in their new collection are ridiculous. enjoy.

new everlane collection | for the love of design

i have heard so many good things about the comfort and softness of everlane tees. i love to layer my basic tees, cardis, and scarves when it starts getting cooler out – i live for layering, people (and i hoard scarves. it’s my thing). so i was pretty ecstatic to open an email today announcing six new everlane products, including scarves and cashmere sweaters.

i cannot wait to see the colors they’ve chosen for the scarves. i may have to add a few to my collection.

nicole richie’s collection for macy’s will be on the racks in just a few days and from what i can tell from the lookbook it won’t stay there long. i’ve been a lover of nicole’s effortless bohemian style for years, so i was really excited to see such a well designed range of pieces. all those jewel tones have me so excited to make the switch from airy summer neutrals to rich fall colors.

fall is kicking off for me this weekend as i head to my old college town for the first football game of the season. it will be the first time in several years that my girlfriends will ALL be together and i couldn’t be more excited for the reunion. i hope you all have lots of wonderful things planned for the next few days. happy weekend!

how was your weekend, loves? it was rainy for the majority of the past few days here, but i didn’t mind much. i worked a little and shopped a little and watched a little lost (i know, you’re shocked).

my cousin is getting married next weekend, so i needed to find a pair of heels that i could stand in for more than 30 seconds since i will be up in front of EVERYONE to sing at the ceremony. so. nervous.

i could shop for clothes all day long, but you put me in a shoe store and my mood goes completely sour. i might be the only girl on the planet that hates shoe shopping. my feet are narrow. i get blisters just looking at a pair of stilettos. i wound up finding a pair (got ‘em in fuchsia, though) that i fell pretty madly in love with. they’re definitely not the most comfortable shoes in the world, but man are they cute.

and speaking of shoes, i also fell in love with the coverage of shoemint on the coveteur. rachel bilson has been my fashion icon long since the days of summer roberts. the shoemint collection is not only full of variety, but also super chic and affordable. i think online shoe shopping might just be the perfect thing for a girl like myself.

it’s no surprise i love a good black and white image. i have a whole board dedicated to the combo. these fall-like mornings have been so nice lately, but i don’t feel like i got to really take advantage of all things summer. it seems like life lately has been in fast forward.

this fall i’m going to remind myself often to slow down a bit.
