fashion + style

hope you all had a nice weekend! i was able to get a whole lot of stuff done saturday morning before heading to the pool. productivity pretty much ended there, unless you count being a part of the winning team of a case race and watching 30 episodes of lost. classy, i know.

flowers are popping up all over the fashion scene for this fall. i try to stick to classic pieces that don’t go out of style too quickly, but sometimes a trend just sucks you right in, you know what i’m saying?

these mixed media collages by fashion illustrator mustafa soydan are on trend and real nice to look at.

have you given into the florals yet? i’ve been noticing some pretty rad floral denim lately that brings me right back to my 90′s childhood.

they are all over the place this fall, holy cow. i have always been a stripe kind of girl, but i am beginning to see the appeal in these cute little guys. i couldn’t help but scroll through j.crew’s fall spots about 325 bazillion times. i want it all!

going to try to keep my impulse buys to a minimum this weekend, but i have a feeling those loafers will be mine by the end of sunday.

this morning i was contemplating what to wear in my dark hole of a closet (note to self: buy light bulbs) and realized i had been neglecting my black. this was not a conscious decision, i just tend to go for lighter shades in the summer. this lanca perfume campaign is exactly the color palette i’ve been digging lately.

i did wind up putting on a black shirt today though, just for kicks. i’ve been experimenting with bold color and pattern lately, but i have a seriously love for black that i do not see dying anytime soon. do you have a certain color you gravitate towards or are you all about color equality in the closet?

just like packaging, if i fall in love with a lookbook, i’m sold on whatever you’re selling me. i just tried to write and rewrite how these images make me feel, but i’m guessing you just get it, too. airy, dreamy, ethereal, soft, GORGEOUS, they totally embody the look and feel of the scarves. now that, my friends, is good product styling + photography.

lately, it has just been way too hot for pants. i’ve been on the hunt for some cute and casual dresses and i think i found just the place. they’re all vintage and all completely adorable, especially that striped one (you know me and my stripes). which one’s your fave?

happy monday! i’ve returned from vacation and am (unfortunately) back to the grind. i will have a few recap posts of my trip later this week, but i wanted to let you guys know about a fun little event happening this sunday in kansas city. madewell will be showing off their fall collection at the new town center location. there will be snacks + drinks, a braid bar (who wouldn’t want to rock a madewell braid?), a very cool giveaway and all of your favorite kansas city bloggers will be there.

sounds like fun, right? really hope you can come. i would love to chat and shop with ya!

the sass and bide fall 2012 collection mixes femininity with little bit of futuristic glam and i dig it.

i noticed at the beginning of this week, while i was standing in my closet half asleep, that i am a little lazy when it comes to my summer wardrobe. most days i get up and throw on skinny jeans and a t-shirt, with a possible attempt to fancy it up with some neon flats or gold studs before i am rushing out the door to make it to starbucks before i’m late for work. i have the luxury of working in a pretty casual environment so this works, but it’s not very fun! my mom would tell you that the last thing i need is one more item of clothing, but i think a few simple and classic pieces like the ones at troubadour would do just the trick! what’s your summer style?
