acre | for the love of design

it’s been a while since i’ve put a bit of design inspiration up here on the blog. which is a bit funny because i’m constantly finding great branding inspiration and it’s almost always on my mind due to the fact that it is my job…but it usually winds up on my pinterest instead of ftlod. so silly. making a mental note to do more of this in the future.

acre is a singapore-based design studio with a really fresh and modern outlook. i’m a huge fan of the branding experience they’ve created for pact. i love a good ampersand, especially when it’s cleverly executed.

if you follow my feed on instagram, you may have noticed it was not a typical work day for me. my pup has had to have a few operations at the vet hospital in manhattan for a few months now and both my sister and brother are currently there for school, so my mom and i thought we would make a day of it and head out there early wednesday morning. we did some shopping, sangria drinking at my favorite restaurant and hit up the book store where i stared at the art supplies and longed to be in college again.

since i was there for school, manhattan has really boomed. what i love most about that small town is the strong sense of community and how all of the local businesses really thrive. one of my most favorite additions to the little apple is varsity donuts. my friends and family have gotten pretty used to my instagram habits, but i was going picture crazy in this place. i mean, how cute is it?!

on our car ride home i was talking to my mom about branding and having the whole package as a business. we agreed that atmosphere and impeccable, consistent branding is a big part of what brings people back. i only wish this sweet shop was a little closer to me.

have you been to a restaurant/shop recently that has completely sold you based on aesthetics? it gets me every time!

happy weekend! enjoy these last few days of august (can you believe it?)

i am in the midst of rebranding myself, which is quite the task. as a creative, i find it hard to nail down one exact direction to stick to when it comes to my own brand. when i came across these custom calling cards i knew they would work as great inspiration for this new step i’m taking.

i found this fantastic article today that made me 100% positive that i am working towards something that will genuinely make a difference in my day-to-day life.

moving on and taking a leap of faith is a little scary isn’t it? have any of you been through something similar lately?

i apologize for the posts being few and far between lately. i am currently juggling many different things, including an obsession with lost.

i’ve been thinking of doing some rebranding for myself. branding my own business is way harder than coming up with something i love for someone else. in the past year, i have grown to know me a lot better.

in school, professors always stressed to us “never have a style. it will corner you in to one line of work and only appeal to a small demographic.” while i think there is some truth in that, i believe that it is a great thing to have work that people can identify as your aesthetics.

so, i’m feeling confident about this go around. lots of portfolio growth happening this weekend. and i’m pretty excited about it.

The plaza is one of my favorite places in kansas city. i was reminded yesterday by mimi + meg that we would be getting a new addition to the already amazing list of stores in the area : kate spade! i really love the way the kate spade line has grown and developed over the years. the design elements of their branding, packaging and products are perfection. i am especially fond of the red + gold combo on some of their products this season. meg biram is cohosting a launch party next friday evening and i am crossing my fingers i will be able to attend.
